Patel S.I.R Movie Review :
Ever since Jagapathi Babu bounced back with “Legend” in 2014, the actor has done some good work in films such as “Srimanthudu”, “Nannaku Prematho” and “Manyam Puli”. After five-long years, the versatile actor has donned the hat of a protagonist and the film is produced by Sai Korrapati who is well-known for producing critically-acclaimed films such as “Eega”, “Andala Rakshasi”, “Oohalu Gusagusalaade”, “Manamantha”, “Legend” and so on.
This combo has garnered curiosity. And the film’s teaser has went viral triggering good buzz. Did the duo’s magic work?
A retired army officer Subash Patel (Jagapathi Babu) is on a mission to eliminate DR’s (Kabir Singh) gang following some ‘unexpected’ incidents in his life that disrupt his happy-go-lucky life post retirement. What is Subash’s revenge against DR? Why did he turn into a serial killer? Patel Sir delves deep into the story of Subash Patel.
Jagapathi Babu undoubtedly delivers an outstanding performance. He gets under the skin of Subash Patel’s role so easily. His character has several shades. Despite limitations, Padmapriya did a decent job. The young little girl does a flawless performance. She stands out. Tanya Hope too did a neat job as a cop. Posani is hilarious. He did tickle the funny-bones of audiences. Prudhvi and Subba Raju shine in their roles. Kabir Singh is good as a baddie. In total, the film offered good performances.
First-time director Vasu has chosen a routine story and he did struggle in the first-half. Flat first-half is a drawback. But the film’s saving grace is its second-half that offer good dose of emotional content. The depth in the emotional scenes have worked in favour of the film making Patel Sir an average film. Jagapthi Babu carries the film on his shoulders. In a few scenes, he is a treat to watch. Production values are pretty good. The cost of making is visible on screen as the film looks stylish, rich.
On the whole, Patel Sir is a regular revenge film. But it is watchable only for Jagapathi Babu.
Jagapathi Babu’s Acting
Final Verdict :
Watch it for Jagapathi Babu!
