Though the veteran actors in the industry might deny the existence of the casting couch and express their disagreement, it is true! From Radhika Apte, Kasthuri, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Archana, Varalakshmi, Madhavi Latha to Parvathi Menon, many leading and successful actresses in the film industry have openly confessed that there is a casting couch in the South.
In a recent interview, actress Parvathi had revealed that there are indeed well known personalities in the industry who ask for favors in return for offers. She openly confessed that she was invited to the bedrooms of heroes and directors many times, during the early stages of her career. Parvathi even lost many opportunities for declining the casting couch.
When asked about the same, Kajal Aggarwal clarified that no one has approached her directly, but other actresses had shared their casting couch experiences with her. “Even now, such incidents are happening in the industry and it is very unfortunate.”
Noted actress, Kasthuri, who acted in films like Annamayya, Chilakkottudu and Aakasa Veedhilo, revealed that one of the reasons for leaving films is the casting couch.
While sharing with the media, about her experience to a leading news daily, she said, “Many times, I was thrown out of films, for not giving the favors in return. The one person who is a popular actor and politician now with whom this all happened, harassed me throughout the film, that I acted with him. Though I respect him in many ways, because of ego I think, he did all that to me.”
Known to be one of the brave actresses in the Indian cinema, Radhika Apte never likes to have filters while interacting with the media. Like always, this time also she openly confessed that one South actor called her and asked her to the casting couch. But she responded in a rude manner and after that, she didn’t get any requests to sleep with them, except one Bollywood person, who directly asked her If she was okay to sleep with the actor. Radhika replied “I said you are funny and asked him to go to hell.”
One of the most honest actresses Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar openly shared on Twitter about the horrible experience she faced.

Well, there are many more! Though the world is progressing at a fast rate and technology has taken over almost everything, we the mankind are still lacking behind. On one hand, while women are striving hard to get their rights on par with men, there are a few people who keep on harassing women and treating them only as objects. Hope, this will at least change in the coming days.
