“Ghazi“ is based on a real story, which is unknown to almost everyone. It revolves around a team of Indian naval officers, lead by Lt. Commander (Rana Daggubati) who stayed underwater for 18 days in the Submarine S-21 for a mission to destroy the PNS Ghazi, a Pakistani submarine. With an aim to destroy INS Vikrant and conquer Vishakhapatnam port, this Ghazi was deployed by the Pakistani Navy, which ventured in to the Indian coast in 1971.
What actually happened was, on November 14th 1971, PNS Ghazi, which owned by U.S. Navy during World War II, and officially called Diablo, was later leased out to Pakistan, which renamed it as Ghazi, was deployed from Karachi harbour to destroy Indian aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant. Due to the intercepted transmissions, the Pakistanis confirmed INS Vikrant to be near Visakhapatnam and with that information, they started sailing to the Eastern coast of India. But it was trap set by Vice-Admiral Krishnan, who came to know that Pakistan has targeted the Aircraft Carrier Vikrant, so through wrong signal intercepts, he made them believe that it is near Vizag.
