It is well known that Balakrishna‘s much anticipated film “Gautamiputra Satakarni” is exempted from paying tax in Andhra Pradesh along with Telangana, as the film throws the light on tradition and the history of the Shatavahana King. But interestingly, this act has raised many eyebrows, especially in Andhra Pradesh.
Earlier, the same Government didn’t approve the tax exemption for “Rudramadevi,” which is also a period drama directed by Gunasekhar and released in 2015. So, he requested the government to reconsider the tax exemption plea that he made during the film’s release and refund the amount.
Even though, both the films are periodic dramas, the Andhra Pradesh Government didn’t give a tax exemption to “Rudramadevi” due to unknown reasons, but had considered director Krish Jagarlamudi’s plea regarding the same issue. However, A.P., Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is yet to react and we have to wait and see whether the Government refund the money or not.
