Controversial producer Dasari Kiran Kumar, said it is not easy to make a period film like “Vangaveeti” as the atmosphere of the 1980s has to be recreated and above all, it’s not easy to release such a controversial film.
“Lot of budgets has been put in for the film and we have not compromised at any point,” shared Dasari Kiran.
Kiran recounts the hardships and hurdles he had went through to have a smooth release for the film based on slain Kapu leader Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga.
Especially in Vijayawada, many of Radha’s supporters have threatened the theater owners not to showcase the film and have warned them to burn the screens and damage theaters if the film was screened.
This turned a major challenge for producer Dasari Kiran as he has convinced theater owners and got the film released since the film is set in Vijayawada and its rowdyism. The film was screened in Alankar Theatre which was totally damaged during the aftermath attacks after the brutal murder of Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga way back in December of 1988.
Dasari Kiran says his political experience helped him a lot in dealing with people and manage things to see the film release smoothly.
Also Kiran thanked the police for thoroughly supporting and deploying forces near theaters to avoid any untoward incidents.
