Story: “Appatlo Okadundevadu” purely deals with the incidents which happened in Hyderabad during the 1990s and the major story revolves around Nara Rohith and Sree Vishnu.
Like always, Nara Rohith gave his controlled and matured performance as a Muslim S.I. character. It is a different character in his career and he made sure that he played it to the hilt. Sree Vishnu’s performance as Railway Raju is done very well and gave tough competition to Nara Rohit in terms of acting. The major story revolves around Sree Vishnu and Nara Rohit, Sree Vishnu performance is also a highlight of the movie. In some scenes, Sree Vishnu performed more than Nara Rohit. Tanya Hope is not only taken for glamor, but in terms of acting she scored 100% marks. All the other actors are appropriate and also performed well in their respective roles in the perfect manner.
Director Sagar K. Chandra has followed the basic theme of the film by not bothering about regular commercial elements we see in the movie. He made the story with enough twists and turns and performed well in converting the film as a gripping thriller. In the first half, he has taken to set the plot up and he has succeeded up to the interval block which raised the curiosity on the second half. We know that the movie is filmed on the real incidents which happened in Hyderabad during 1992 to 1996, the director Sagar K. Chandra narrated the incidents in a perfect manner and in an engaging way. But after setting a good first half, the second half slows down a bit, because lack of story content in the second half. So it lacks the entertainment quotient and way the story has been told is boring for some audience.
This time music director Sai Karthik came up with average songs but it’s apt for the story and the background music is good. Cinematography by Naveen Yadav is excellent and visuals are slick. Dialogues are really superb. Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao’s editing is good but it could have been better. Art direction team deserves a special mention here because they have taken more care in every scene to run the story in the 1990s backdrop and the production values are rich.
Nara Rohit’s and Sree Vishnu’s performances,
Lack of commercial elements,
Verdict: On the whole, “Appatlo Okadundevadu” is running with decent first half and an interesting second half and finally ends up as a decent action movie that could be liked by Telugu audiences.
Final Verdict: Undoubtedly “Appatlo Okadundevadu” is a different attempt that would deserve a big applause. Watch the movie in the theater and enjoy.
