After a successful historical fiction film “Rudhramadevi”, director Gunasekhar is up with a new film which is said to be a mythological film. The film “Rudhramadevi” portrayed the story of Rudrama Devi, one of the eminent rulers of the Kakatiya dynasty which belonged to the Deccan region.
Director Gunasekhar‘s upcoming film is titled “Hiranyakashyapa.” Sources claim that he has also registered this name at the Film Chamber. Reportedly Gunasekhar is in talks with a Tamil superstar. “Hiranyakashyapa” would be a bilingual made in Telugu and Tamil. These days most films from the south films are being made in Telugu and Tamil. “Hiranyakashyapa” will be bankrolled by Gunasekhar himself.
Gunasekhar is a talented award winning director who holds the record of holding about 10 numerous awards. He won his first Nandi Award for Best First Film of a Director for his directorial debut in “Lathi.” Moving on he won several State and Nandi awards for his movies. Since 1991 he directed about 11 movies from which most of them were hits.
One of his film “Arjun” which was released in 2004 was screened at the International Film Festival of India in the mainstream section. Before venturing into mainstream film direction, Gunasekar worked as an assistant director under D. V. Narsaraju, Kranthi Kumar, and Ram Gopal Varma.
