Shriya Saran Bhatnagar was born on 11 September 1982 in Haridwar, to Pushpendra Saran Bhatnagar and Neeraja Saran Bhatnagar. Her father worked for Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and her mother was a Chemistry Teacher at Delhi Public School, Ranipur in Haridwar and Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, New Delhi.
Shriya completed her schooling from both schools where her mother had taught and attained Bachelor of Arts Degree in Literature from Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi.
Debut and Early Career :
A trained dancer, Shriya Saran is an accidental actress who was supposed to be a dancer. And it was her Renoo Nathan’s debut music video “Thirakti Kyun Hawa” music video that caught popular Telugu producer Ramoji Rao’s attention. She was offered the lead role ‘Neha’ in ”Ishtam.” Though the movie wasn’t a commercial success, Shriya made her impact and went on to grab other offers in Telugu.
Golden Period :
After a forgettable debut, Shriya Saran rose to fame with Nagarjuna’s ”Santosham” in the year 2002, which established herself as a leading heroine. The years between 2002 and 2009 is termed as the best phase of her career. This period was also favorable for Shriya when she got a chance to pair opposite to all the leading heroes of the south and gave blockbusters in a row. She was offered roles that had ample scope to display a wide range of emotions. Apart from South and Hindi films, Shriya has featured in a few English films like “Midnight’s Children” and “The Other End of the Line” that have received international acclaim for her performance.
Apart from movies, Shriya was the brand ambassador of Celebrity Cricket League for its two first seasons. She not only endorses many brands across India but also volunteers for a number of charity organizations as well. Shriya Saran was the first actress and the third celebrity after Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan to deliver a lecture to students at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A.)
