Remembering the music director Chakri on his Birth Anniversary

Music director and singer Chakri has a unique identity. All his musical tracks for films would be a lovable mixture of melody and peppy songs. A careful look at the songs of his films would reveal his versatility and his grip over various genres of music. All of his films have enviable variety and most of them are super hits. This success has made him as one of the leading and most wanted composers in South India.

Chakradhar Gilla aka Chakri, born in a middle-class family in Mahabubabad, Warangal district, Telangana, started his career with private music albums and made his debut in movies with Puri Jagannadh‘s ‘Baachi‘ and has been a regular music composer for Puri Jagannadh’s films for several years.

Music director Chakri has the reputation of having composed music for many hit numbers within the ambit of a very short period. As a frontline music director working in two South Indian languages – Telugu, and Kannada – all of Chakri’s tunes are still popular.

Chakri has always been the front-runner in encouraging new talent. It’s he who introduced the famous singer Kausalya to the Tinseltown with ‘Avunu Vallidaru Isthpaddaru‘.

In a career that spanned for over 14 years, Chakri has composed music for nearly 85 films and has been the recipient of Filmfare Award as the best singer award for Satyam and a Nandi Award for Simha as a music director.

One of the most prominent music directors and singers of the current generation, Chakri has left for the Almighty’s abode on 15th December 2014 at very young age of 40 years.
